Thread: kentucky lake in march?

Third week of March is usually very good. Mother Nature can make or break a trip during this time though. Last year we had a lot of rain and high water to deal with and a lot of high winds. (wind is always a factor to consider)

I'd start fishing in the 10-12 foot depth and move shallower or deeper depending on water temps.

Everthing Brad said applys. If you're a spider rigger early March is a great time to attack the flats in around 12' of water. Later in the month the blacks typically move up but you can back off to the deeper water and catch whites too. Last year was weird. I was catch'n big blacks in 5' of water in early March casting jigs under rattle bobbers around flooded timber.

I also like to hit the brush piles in 14' to 10' of water. I am a big March fan but I'm a pre-spawn fan also. If you hit the weather right it can make for a memorable trip!
