    Default Taylorsville trip .....

My fishing partner & I decided to give T-ville a shot today. Caught lots of Crappie & Whites .... but, nothing of any size. Roadrunners in chartreuse seemed to be the ticket for the Crappie ... and they were suspended a few feet down over 15-30ft of water. Didn't do much around the stickups or blowdowns. Didn't get there until around 7AM ... so we may have been a wee bit late for the shallow fish. The Whites/Hybrids all came while trolling ... either a Roadrunner or Hot-n-tot with chartreuse jig trailing. Partner got a good hit over the "hump with stumps" at the mid lake horseshoe bend ... but it broke him off. I got a good hit trolling up the shallow bank near the bend, shortly thereafter. Thought I had a good Hybrid, as it was bulldogging pretty hard and staying down. When I finally got it to the net ........ it was a Flathead Catfish and would go about 4lbs. There were a couple of guys in another boat - trolling in the same area. I gave it to them.
Boat traffic was moderate - not near as bad as I expected. And the nice thing about trolling for Whites/Hybrids ... the jet skis, ski boats, tube float pullers, and all the other normal traffic - don't seem to bother them. The traffic seems to keep the Shad schools close to the bank (or else it doesn't spook the ones that are near the bank) and the fish will congregate in the shallower, dirtied up water - right along with the Shad.
Even though the water was pretty flat (not much wind until mid day), there were no Shad schooling on top ... just the occasional "flip". No surface activity (schools) was observed ... just the occasional single boil.
Water is at full pool and looks to be in good shape, color wise.

And Don't Forget - you have to pay to launch at the Marina Ramp (and all "State Park" ramps). We didn't see a "ticket box" at the ramp, so we thought the ramp was still free. NOPE - got a warning ticket on the truck. So, I guess, the next time we go there - we'll check down by the Marina, and see if the pay box is down there.

I know it ain't much of a report, and we didn't catch anything to "brag" about :D ... but, it was good to be out on the water & fishing, all the same....LOL!! .............. luck2ya .........cp

    Default Taylorville

Crappiepappy, good report and thanks for it. When I was at Taylorsville a month ago, the ticket box for the ramp is on the right of the ramp(not on the parking side) about 50 yds off the water. Glad you just got a warning, you were lucky. Sounds like you did pretty good really. I look forward to getting back down to the lake sometime. Keep the reports coming.

    Mike
