What Slab said! Pappy does a great job and I believe starts planning the next years event right after the current years event ends.

Overall good day. Nice warm "windy" and sunny weather, fish were biting, great prizes, and awesome food. Good group to be part of. And a special shout out to Big Fish Kerns for bringing the fried apple pies, they are the best ever.

I live about 45 minutes from Holmes Bend & haven't been able to be there yet. Hopefully next year things go better so i can.

How were the fish biting? Are they on the banks at Green?

That's the thing, Shields .... I fished Fri-Mon and there were no fish on the banks in spite of 65deg water, 14hrs daylight, 3days past Full Moon (Sat), pretty stable water level, and the Dogwoods blooming. What are these fish waiting on ??
All the fish we caught were in 15+fow and 8-15' deep, and most of them were on timber. And get this ... males & females together (but mostly females). We were casting jigs & Road Runners most of the time, but did catch a few longlining them.
The wind was atrocious all weekend long, making for difficult boat control
The fish we caught were in the 9-10" range and the females were still full of eggs ... though the eggs were still in the bright yellow condition. The males were a little darker, but not really "full tux" dark.
That's all I can report, but maybe some of the others can chime in with what they encountered.

I fished all week long and the bite was good but by Saturday the bite wasn't as good as it was earlier in the week. We caught over 300 keepers in the 6 days we fished and most was released. We caught them in 15 to 40 fow some of them as deep as 35 foot right on the bottom. 95% of those was females until Saturday and we caught more males than females and the size was way down too. All we used was devil minners, hot rods, and mud bugz (big ones and small ones). Didn't catch any 2 pound fish but did have a bunch in the 1 to 1.5 pound range.
