Thread: New to Crappie fishing and need help, lol

Hello Fellow Kentuckians,

In the last few years I have started to become more interested in crappie fishing. One lesson I already learned was becoming more interested has not corresponded into catching more fish lol. I live within a couple minutes of Green River Lake so that would be my main lake but I have several lakes nearby that I might try after I start to figure out how to put fish on the boat. So far, I have tried pulling crankbaits with little success, Spider rigging with little success, slip bobbing with some success, and single poleing with little success. The most crappie that I have caught wasn't even on my boat, it was at the spillway with a single pole and bobber from the bank.

My setup:
-20ft 2019 Starcraft Fiberglass Deckboat w/ 175 Yamaha SHO
-9 inch HDS Live at the helm with 2D sonar, downscan, and sidescan.
-24V Powerdrive trolling motor
-I have (4) 10ft or 12ft crappie rods for spider rigging with bait caster reels, (3) 6.5 crappie spinning reels, and got my wife and kids some Zebco 33's for slip bobbing, and I have (2) Zebco Triggerspin Crappie rods to try as they seemed interesting.
-Boat has 2 fishing seats at the bow with a livewell.
-I have recently bought a T-100 driftmaster T post that I planned on having on the front of the boat.
-Fixed pole holders around the rail of the boat from previous owner, used for catfishing and they cannot be adjusted for direction.

What method would work best for Green River Laker? Spider rig, Long Lining, Single Pole w/ livescope (dont have current), Pushing / Pulling?

I've lived in this area almost all of my life but I stayed on Green River and not much time on the lake. Can anyone educate me on the lake as far as how the fish move throughout the year and what jigs / lures are most effective from your opinion. I appreciate any and all feedback and maybe over time I will find someone on here that needs a fishing buddy and can do some mentoring. I will post some picture of my boat and setup for reference and once again, thank you.

You might also consider using t.slabseeker as your Green River guide. He specializes in Spider Rigging, has decent rates, and also has a cabin that you can rent that's just a couple of miles up the road from Holmes Bend Marina ramp.
