Pappy i only go there if i'm either tired, short on time or just don't feel like going to green or cumberland by myself on that particular day. The dinks that i catch are pretty pathetic. I know it's got some real good crappie in it but i sure can't catch any of them.

I totally understand. It's a 1.5hr drive to get there for me, and I can get to Green in 2hrs (and have a decent chance of getting on some keeper fish).
I don't know, seeing as how I haven't been there in several years, but I suspect the White Crappie have gained a good percentage of the population ... even though they're not even supposed to be in there. Are you seeing many dink Whites ??

I had my doubts about the lake, to start with, but when their plans for a marina & such never materialized, and the store at the top of the hill above the dam ramp closed, I pretty much went there just to "play" (sometimes bank fishing, just to get some pullage on my line). Heard stories & saw pics of supposed 2+lb Crappie, but never came across anything over 9" more than 2-3 times. We did catch some Blacknose on a couple of trips, and my doubts about the lake lessened a bit, but after that it seemed to not even produce dinks in any numbers ... so it dropped down the list several places.

Randy at the tackle shop has pics of some huge ones & I know a buddy of mine has caught a few big ones in there but it was when they moved up in spring when he caught them.

Oh, I have no doubt they're in there. I just haven't spent enough time there in the last many years to keep up with them.

In fact, the last time I fished there (several years ago) I fished it at night. Fished all around the area between the dam & the pocket around the ramp parking lot. Don't remember catching a thing, but what was the most surprising to me was that there were NO Crappie around the stands of timber in that area. We Livescoped half a dozen stands and never saw a single fish among any of them. Couldn't get anywhere near the banks around the ramp parking lot on account of the bugs. They'd get so thick on my DF screen that I couldn't even see what it was showing. Not as bad along the dam riprap & overflow spillwell, but still no fish to be found. That was the first time I fished there and never caught a fish, and the last time I went there.

I agree I have checked the trees several time maybe one or two line ranger fish. Lots of submerged brush in the lake and old fence rolls I’m assuming. I’ve caught a few around the dam but mostly in the submerged brush near the bridge.
