Lake Cumberland...
anyone have success on LC crappie fishing on a regular basis? I have a place close to the dam off Indian Creek and fished it hard this weekend. Pulled crankbaits, long-lined jigs, and beat the heck out of standing timber in the back of creeks, but failed to hook a single crappie.
The dam end of the lake has been so very hard to locate fish in it has become mind numbing, everything that works on other lakes for me just doesn't work at LC.
Going to be back down this week and try night fishing with cappier lights, if that doesn't work I give up and will go to Dale Hollow
Anyone recommendations for crappie on the dam end of LC......

I usually fish the upper end of Cumberland. Consistently locating crappie on Cumberland has always been an issue for me. I was catching them (casting road runners and vertical jigging around stickups) in the middle to mouth of short pockets (12-16 fow) for a couple of recent trips then could not find them on the next trip. I will be searching for them again in the next few days.

LC has been very difficult to fish for me, I've caught a few crappie but its always hit or miss and only a few a best. I located tons of baitfish in the back of the creeks and fish on the graph were abundant. Lots of fish busting top water, I assume thoses were stripers.
Thinking of night fishing crappie under lights to see what success that brings.

Cumberland was way easier for me back in the winter when it was muddy. Since it's warmed up & the water cleared up we've pretty much had to cast to them in standing submerged timber or stay back & pitch & let it pendulum back. Found lots of fish in bays in submerged timber in the upper end of creeks. When you find them in the standing timber the livescope screen will light up like a christmas tree. They can still be found in deeper brush piles but they'll be pretty deep.

For the most part Cumberland is a different animal than most lake when it comes to crappie fishing specially on the lower end. It took me awhile to figure things out when started fishing Cumberland but the last 9 or 10 years we catch close to, or a 2 man limit on most days. But saying that I do have days where we struggle to catch 10. I do fish the lower end of lake 20 to 1 over the upper end. The best advise I can give you is stay 20 to 30 feet away from them and to find as many spots as you can. Plus, this time of year it can get a little hard with all the big boats running up and down.

I haven't crappie fished since the night time bass tournaments at Burnside Island started so i don't have a clue but I will say though that i saw a few boats last night that had lights out sitting on main lake on bluffs.
