Default Summer nights on Cumberland & Green?

Where do the crappie go in summer at night on these two lakes? I want to fish pretty hard for them this summer with livescope to learn. Well that & the fact that i've never been a crappie fisherman & honestly don't have a clue where to start.

Run the Livescope around the same cover spots you'd fish during the day. That way you'll find what cover they're holding on & what depth they're holding at. Once there's a thermocline ... fish cover that extends above that depth.

(* just don't take the thermocline depth from the COE charts, because they're taken at the dam ... you'll have to have another depthfinder or both the LS transducer and the Garmin transducer attached to your Garmin unit in order to see the thermocline "line" on your screen, so you can determine the depth of the thermocline where you're fishing)
Thanks BuckeyeCrappie thanked you for this post

Pappy thanks. I've never known anything about them because i never fished for them. I caught several at Cumberland a couple weeks ago at night but i knew there were trees under the water there & i just drifted around. I'm wanting to try it on Green to gain confidence since there are so many more crappie to be caught but just don't know where the go there. I know where the fish & wildlife attractors are but absolutely do not have a clue where a single brush pile or stakebed is on green or locations to search for them either.

Some of those old F&W attractors still hold fish on occasion, even though there's not much of the brush left.

If you have Livescope you can find submerged brush/trees. If you have Side/Down Scan you can still find them, but it might take a little longer.

Pappy in general do they head to deep water drops, brush piles, stake beds or just suspend under Shad on most lakes in the heat of summer?!

All of the above. The exception may be "stake beds", as they're usually set in shallower water, but they can still hold fish if/when/while they're shaded. But that's just my interpretation of a "stake bed" vs a "brush pile". But, regardless of the type of cover or bottom structure, they're gonna be at or slightly above any thermocline that's set up in that area.

Thank you sir.? Sorry for all the questions. I’m trying really hard to learn but don’t have anybody to fish with that knows anything about crappie. I’m all on my own with this deal.

Never be sorry for asking questions. The whole idea behind this site is to pass info on to others via discussions, questions, and the sharing of knowledge. I've been Crappie fishing for over 60yrs and still learn new things all the time.

I have fished a lot at night on Cumberland with excellent success, usually. Always seemed to find the crappie around 20 ft deep. I've tried a few times on Green In places where I always caught crappie during the daytime, but with little success.
