    Exclamation Green redux

Onready & I went back down to Green on Thursday.

    Tally .... 13 keepers (3 over 11")
    Water temps ... 61-65deg
    Water color ... normal
Water level ... couple inches above Summer Pool & slowly falling

This time the fish were slightly deeper on the wood cover than they were last weekend. This kept us from using Road Runners, so we opted for jigs. Onready used CB Sliders, while I opted for Slabanator Devil Minners. Various colors were used with no particular one being favored by the fish. The early bite was "timid" and many fish were missed or came unbuttoned, and those caught were barely lip hooked. Later on in the day the fish were inhaling the baits & most were hooked deep inside the mouth.
We caught a LOT of dinks & "almost keeper" fish. I did not catch another Blacknose, but we did catch several Black Crappie keepers. All the females caught had egg sacs that were dark & mushy .... so the "dance" is in progress. All fish were caught from the 8-10ft depths around wood cover.

(sorry .. no pics .... I'll do better next time, promise !! )

I fished Thursday with guide Tim Marple and 2 20 fish limits were caught by 2pm. Fish were 9 to 11 inches. Lot of dinks. Fish were caught on mostly jigs and Trout Magnet Finn Spins. Some jigs tipped with minnows. Tim was a great host, good equipment and knew where the fish were. Met him at the Spring Fling. I highly recommend him. He also can provide lodging in a nice cabin at a reasonable rate, just a short distance from the ramp.

Friday got a late start due to waiting on a bird hunting friend from Louisville, but we got started finally around 930 and fished in the mouth of Robinson Creek. Wound up with 22 nice fish measuring 9 to 12 inches. Caught some dinks but all in all larger fish than we were into on Thursday. 5 channel cats that would go from 3 to 5 lbs and one 20lb carp that screwed up 8 poles. Like to have never landed him on a 14ft Southern Crappie Rod with 4lb test. Those cats tangled up some poles too but the carp really screwed things up. Both Thursday and Friday were great days to fish with mostly calm winds and warm weather.

Going back again Thursday with Tim and will fish Friday by myself unless someone else wants to hitch a ride.
