Nice job buddy
Another day another paycheck on the home water. Wind was really nasty, spot lock on the Ultrex was key to survival. Keyed in on ledges with cover adjacent to the spawning grounds, 12-15 feet deep in 18-25 feet of water. Fish were holding very tight to cover, hang ups were imminent. If it wasn’t white capping in the back of the large creek we were in it would have been a day for the books for sure. Still caught 17 keepers, one really nice white bass and an ungodly amount of 9-9.5” fish. Jenko Fry daddy’s, mermaids and fringe fry jigs on 1/8 oz heads in June Bug, Blue Grass, and Black/chartreuse where dynomite. I’ll be stuck at work until 5/2, so I expect some of y’all to pick up the slack for me. Y’all be safe out there.

I can verify the fact of the wind being "nasty" ... as I was there !! I can also attest to the fact that the fish were holding tight to cover, as most every brushpile in 15-20fow, that I scoped, had a school of fish on it ... most of which, in my case, were small White Crappie females.
We just happened to be on the other end of the lake from BCO & obviously were covering ground that has been pummeled to death since last Tues ... and still had boats beating the banks. We found water temps from 61-65deg, yet the males were few & far between on the spawning banks in the areas we covered.
Everyone we talked to at the Settlers ramp, that were obviously Crappie fishing, said they didn't have much luck catching any number of keepers (on jigs or minnows). Maybe the upcoming "heat wave" will coax the fish into the shallows next week ... we'll see.
I will have to say that I have experienced Taylorsville Crappie spawning 8' deep in early May, in the past, so there is that.
Thanks! I've been aiming to pick up some of those Jenko baits you mentioned, I think those Fry Daddys are a little bigger than the Mermaids so I wasn't sure if you were able to use them on the same size jighead or not. I've had great luck with the Jenko crankbaits, so it's no surprise that their soft baits are working well for you. Thanks again!
