Lucky to catch a keeper at Taylorsville
I was there Monday and only had 7-8 with zero keepers.
Fished about 4 hours. Water stained to muddy and up a couple foot. Temp was 47-48 deg.

Same here, all small no keepers. Scared that lake may be getting over fished.

I'm sure that the Spring floods (Mar/Apr/May) over the last several years hasn't helped much, either.

That lake has killer habitat. From my experience the past few years and others that I have talked to it’s all the same thing, nothing like it used to be. Not sure what exactly is the reason but definitely not what it was.

True ... but that would depend on how far back you're talking. I remember when you could catch 50 Crappie on 60 casts and not one of them would be a 9" keeper. Farther back than that and you could catch a 3yr old Crappie that was barely 6-7" long and you could practically see thru them.
But, yeah, it does seem like in the last several years (since they put the 10" size limit on) if you don't get into the 12-14" fish around the spawn, then you may not see but a couple two or three of that size the rest of the year. At least for me, anyway.

Like has been said, there's plenty of bait & habitat for them in that lake ... but it seems like it only took one year of people catching Slabs early in the year, then they upped the size limit. IF I'm not mistaken, I've heard that taking a large percentage of the total number of Crappie from a lake will prompt them to produce even more than if a low percentage are taken out. I remember the F&W folks saying they upped the size limit to give the fish more time to get to 10"-12" or more, but I'm not sure that's working as planned.

My success rate on Taylorsville, since the size limit increase, has dropped off to the point where I'm more inclined to drive the extra 30mins and go to Green ... not to mention that I can clean my fish while there, and not have to bring them home & clean them. And I can always stay at Tim's "Getaway" cabin and make a 2day trip out of it.

Went Saturday. Day started out cold and slow. Water very stained and 49 degrees but eventually got to 54. Tried finding fish suspended in deep water but no luck. Moved closer to the bank and found them anywhere from 12'-15' in 25' of water. Two of us caught 70-80 fish on minnows but only 8 keepers. Lots of fish in the 9"-9 1/2" class but plenty a lot smaller than that. BTW, good luck finding bait. Elmer's was out, Settlers Trace is leveled and Briar Ridge has a few. Does anyone know if Karem's sells minnows?

Got on water just after daylight this morning. Only fished 1 spot because I wanted to be home early. Came off the water at 11:30 and the place looked like grand central station.
    Caught 22 but zero keepers.
Vertical fishing in 24-28 FOW using Livescope. Tried to target some larger fish off the rest of the school but no luck. All the fish were in the 8-9 1/2 inch range.
Maybe a slot keeping everything up to 12 inches would help.
Who knows. I was there last Monday when the state was shocking for breeding fish. Didn’t see much over 11 inches from I could tell.
I did see a couple boats catching short fish while they were spider rigging, pushing minnows and jigs.
Every time I go there I say I’ll never go back. Lol
    Chuck

Same here Chuck Adams. But myself and oldest son got on water about 11 30 from Settlers. Stayed till 6 30. Water stained to muddy. Pushed jigs and Minnows. Caught about 60 8 to 9 1/2 inches. 4 keepers. one 10 1/2 one just little over 11 two over 12. We caught more on jigs than Minnows Water temp got to 58.9 by 4 o clock. A LOT OF BOATS out there today. Just about all Crappie fishing. Seen maybe 5 Boats Bass fishing. I keep saying i wont go back to. About time to start other Lakes. My thinking Tville Crappie getting Fished to hard.
