    Default Taylorsville Lake night fishing?

Just wondering if anyone fishes Taylorsville Lake at night with lights? Is it productive like other lakes in the area? Thanks and God Bless

You know, buddy, of all the nights I've spent Bass fishing on Taylorsville ... I don't really remember seeing very many people out there night fishing for Crappie. Now, that's been a LONG time ago, and I'm sure there's ... well, I KNOW there's a whole lot more people Crappie fishing that lake than there was back then. And I have seen quite a few boats, rigged for Crappie fishing, launching in the late afternoon, while I'm loading up to head home ... so, yeah, I'm pretty sure there are night Crappie anglers out there, nowadays.

I don't see why you wouldn't catch just as many at night, as in the day, and you sure wouldn't have near the boat traffic to contend with as you do during the day.

I agree with pappy, night fishing is basically setting up on a good/perceived area with lights in the water. May take 1/2 hour to bring them in with the lights/bait fish, but I think it will work. I would work the deeper waters with timber broken off near the surface and vary your depth after you set out the lights. This worked great for me at Okeechobee, Fl. The bait would show in the lights, and the crappie would be there shortly.

I have done very well with lights between midnight and dawn. Seems to be a lot of catfish caught between dark and midnight.

I've done lots of night fishing, I even spider rig at night with lights, just never tried Taylorsville other than the in the daylight. During pre spawn, spawn and even post spawn till the weather gets hot, I like to day fish all I can. Once the water and days get warm I like to stay away from heat and more importantly boat traffic. Just thought about trying Taylorsville this summer, to see if it produces like Cave Run or Green River can in the warmer months under the lights. May have to give it a whirl, who knows?

I grew up on Taylorsville with a houseboat on it for years plus fishing for crappie in my bass boat. I also grew up fishing under the lights. I am now 52 so the nights of staying up all night have really slowed up. I like many on here fish Taylorsville alot and can get a limit frequently like many on here. My night fishing is a different deal though. No clue why or why not but never done great under the lights there. I have on Nolin, Rough, and Kentucky but not Taylorsville. This being said, I have probably gone 4 or 5 times so maybe I just haven't figured it out.

I definitely think you need to wait until summer. The more hot and humid, the more bugs which is what you need. Bugs hit the lights. Bugs hit the water. That brings in the bait. That brings in the crappie. Eventually that brings i the hybrids. The crappie leave. This is about what I usually run into at Taylorsville.
