use jigs
My wife and I make it to Kentucky Lake a couple times a year (not this year, boo hoo).
When we don't rent a boat we usually fish from the docks. There are days when we seem to catch more turtles than fish (exaggeration).
Any suggestions on catching fewer turtles.
Thanks
Alan
Have you ever tried Turtle soup, or fried turtle? If you haven't you're missing some good eating. Don't ask me how to fix them, I only eat them when I can find someone that knows how.

I don't know why, but this thread made me think of a song I use to sing when my daughter was little. It made her giggle every time. Thanks for the memory.

I don’t know how to catch less but if I knew how to make it i surely would. I did read an article that stated to use artificial baits to keep turtles off the line.

Funfishers, I agree with previous post. If there are a pile of turtles around, you will need to fish with artificial bait, or per my experience, stay close to the bottom with your bait. If you can, I'd like to know what docks that you can fish from at KY lake. I think the State Parks have fishing docks, but don't know of any marina's that will let you fish from their docks. Let me know, I no longer have a boat, so fishing from the bank or Dock is the only option for me next spring
