Wow, nice fish!
I have a pond i go to from time to time that has some giant crappie in it. There aren't many but i don't think i've ever caught one under 14-15" there. I assume they aren't spawning successfully or something. I typically catch them bass fishing there but sometimes will get the buggy whips and catch them on the ultralights. They can be fun. This one was quite large. I don't know what it weighed but it was north of 17", wide, and thick.
Nothing to brag about as when you can find where they are, they are easy to catch there but a nice specimen i thought you guys might like to see.

Good one. Could there’s only males in the pond. I’ve put a few in my pond, along with shellcrackers, but only males. Didn’t want a bunch of small ones.

i would guess it was somewhere between 2.25 and 2.75 lbs but i could be off. I know this spring i was seeing several of these big crappie on a bed. I know that doesn't mean there are male/female but in a couple instances, there were 2 on one bed which i assume would mean there were a spawning pair although that could even be off. I would think if any spawners were successful, they would blow up in that pond. It is clear, deep, and big and has some good forage.
On a side note, this has been a tough spring for me on the crappie at lake cumberland. I finally got on them pretty good a couple weeks ago and brought home 25 nice ones over a weekend but i have never struggled like i have this spring there. In years past, even the bad days would end up producing a half dozen or so. I have been out in one boat and a good friend in another on 2 or 3 occasions since march and between the 2 of us catch one keeper.
