    Default Kentucky Lake Next Weekend

Headed to KY Lake with the wife and sons next weekend. Besides a lot of rain this week, weather looks great next weekend. I'm going out of Malcolm Creek Marina and wanted to see if anyone is catching any crappie. Figure I might get lucky and be able to catch a few crappie and some gills.

Hope you get some responses. I’d like to see anything from KY Lake. Good or bad. Just haven’t seen much of any info lately. And I have not been myself so not much help here

I fished Johnathon Creek this past Friday and caught 3 trolling. KDFW was there doing surveys and we talked to him on several occasions through out the day and others were having the same luck. He did say that several had found some schools in 5-15 fow. I also talked with a guide of 17 years and he only had one. KDDF said that we had two bad spawns back to back and we are seeing the results. He also said next year will be just as bad and then we will see improvement after that. Good luck. I fished Malcom last week and used the Livescope around the crappie beds in the back and they were not holding any fish.

I had a friend that went this weekend and they never put one fish in the live well. I'm bringing everything including gear for long line trolling for crappie, bluegill fishing, and bass fishing gear. I also figured it cant be real good right now because I'm not seeing every other post from Kentucky Lake.

I'm assuming if they aren't catching them on Kentucky, Barkley is stinking too?

Kentucky isn't dead but guessing the lions share are probably transitioning to post spawn tough fishing now except for a few females that are probably about to start reabsorbing their eggs. I am totally guessing though, haven't been out on Kentucky in a couple weeks now. But these fish were caught a couple weeks ago on north end of Kentucky Lake. Best fishing is probably south of state line though.Name: IMG_20200409_204239_056.jpg

Barkley is worse than Kentucky imo, but on Barkley if you get a bite it will probably be a big one.

My wife and I threw the kitchen sink at them late last week till she insisted we tie the PICOs on. We didn’t set the world on fire but ended up with some good fish. As usual, she kicked my butt!
    12-20 fow.

All of our fish were females that had yet to lay what appeared to be normal eggs.

Need it to get warm and STAY warm. These cool nights have been wrecking the water temps.

Barkley has been better to me, still not big numbers but some real nice fish. It seems like with the livescope we only find one or two keepers occupying a pile ( if there’s any at all). Like Doug, my son has forced me to pull some crabkbaits and even in 59-62 degree water we had some success. Name: IMG_0650.jpg
