Congrats on the trip and thanks for the pics
Here are some pics from my trip yesterday to Dale Hollow Lake with client and new friend, Dwight Parks, a Crappie.com member. Dwight had contacted me about a Spider-Rigging 101 class. We caught 25 really nice crappie, 4 or 5 shorts, and a few angry bass that attacked our double minnow rigs. 15 of the crappie were as good as you'd catch anywhere. It was a really great trip, and hopefully, Dwight learned some spider-rigging tips that will make him more effective in this awesome fishing technique. Thanks Dwight for a good day! Capt. Steve (Note: These pics may be sideways when they post. Sometimes they post correctly, sometimes not.)

I'm planning on coming down next weekend, can I ask what dept of water you guys targeted? are they scattered or moving shallow? just trying to get a game plan, I am set up to spider rig, but would gladly jig or fish under a cork. I have never fished Dale Hollow, but my friend has and we will be fishing the se fork of the lake. Thanks
Tom513, I really can't say that fish are in any certain depth of water. At least that was true this past Wednesday. Fish were very scattered and traveling in small schools (I call them pods) and chasing the abundant schools of shad minnows. Black crappie tend to do that this time of year, especially when water levels have been going up and down like they have recently. We were spider-rigging, and most of the time when we got one bite on one pole, the pole next to would also get bit. I've seen black crappie do this in Florida lakes during crazy weather patterns, and the black crappie on Dale Hollow act much like them. I didn't talk to every boat (there were several folks fishing) but I did talk to a few, and it seems fish were being caught from 8 to 16 feet deep in water depths from 17 to 27 feet. Didn't see anybody fishing shallow, but in the area of the lake where I was there's not much shallow water. Water temps were running from 52 to 54 degrees depending where you were. By next weekend all that can change, as it often does this time of year. My advice would be to search out the schools of shad. When you find them, you usually find the crappie.
