I haven't been, we've been awfully busy painting houses. I'm supposed to finish this latest job Thursday. After that, I'll be out there hot and heavy after the shellcrackers.
Headed down to KY lake mid May. Need to know if anyone has targeted the 'other' panfish in the lakes lately. I plan to try some Crappie fishing, but will be after the Bluegill, Shellcrackers and Yellow Bass mostly. I really like the Yellow Bass to eat if I can get some size. If anyone has done some fishing for the Bluegill, Shellcrackers or Yellow Bass recently, I'd like to know how it's going.

Redearhoosier, I'm gonna be down on north end of the lakes Friday to Sunday. Any updates or tips you have would be aapreciated.
Took a day and went bluegill fishing a little over a week ago down here on Kentucky Lake. Although they aren’t on the beds yet, I found a good concentration of them in six foot. Small jig and small bobber. And this was from shore.

I got out for a few hours after my Easter obligations. Here is a magnum shellcracker from Barkley...I'm always amazed at their size. This one went 1lb12oz.
Very nice
Awesome fish!!! Will be heading that way myself in 3 weeks.
Great fish Troy. That's the same size as the one I have mounted in the shop that I won awards with.

Yes, I've seen that fish and it's a great mount. I promise you that if I ever catch a 2lb or bigger male redear, I'm coming to you with it! That's been quite the challenge!!
This fish had somehow rubbed most of its redear flap completely off. I've caught a few like that down here and I think they get that way from fighting....although I'm not sure. It is an interesting look when you catch them like that.
Many thanks for the replies and information. I'm sure it will only get better. Looking forward to about 5-6 days of 'perchjerking' in May.
