Trip planned for late April early May,
Jonathan creek area, are these nets
a big problem here. Don't want to cancel
but don't want to tear up anything either

I wouldn't cancel a trip because of carp nets. The guy who put those nets I first posted about will have either lost them, had them cut into 1000 pieces, decided to move to another bay, or started marking them.

I talked to a commercial fisherman at Paris Landing yesterday and he got furious when I told him about the unmarked nets. The commercial guys will probably brow-beat the guys who don't mark them. They know the only way we can all get along is to know where the nets are and stay away from them.

Thank you M R Dux for the reply, haven't
been to the lake for awhile and didn't
know about the nets. Wife and I are looking
forward to getting back to do a little crappie,
    bluegill and shellcracker fishing. Thanks
    again for the information.

I passed over a big net today in Willow Bay. It was marked by an eight inch chartreuse colored foam marker. It was about the size of a box of cheese nips and tucked in tightly against the waves couldn't be seen until i was basically on top of it. I got lucky because i was up on plane at a decent clip and no damage was sustained to my boat or the net.

Boy, marking these things with small markers isn't going to fly....don't know what else to say.

I can only hope they put some on Barkley in Tennessee. These carp are out of control. Hopefully they will mark them.

From what I was told, the commercial guys at the meeting a couple of weeks ago were refusing to use the markers, even though they are free. Not sure where the logic is in that. It's not like catching carp is a cutthroat business and the lakes are swarming with guys trying to catch them.
