My first night back to work on midnights I don't lay down for any naps so that the next morning I can come home and go straight to bed. It works for me...
For me to sleep till 9am is unheard of, but it happened this day. Ended up getting away and to the ramp by noon. The bite was ON, and I put 9 keepers in the boat in the first hour. I was on a great pace until the bite, or my fish fell off. After the fact, I believe they moved because I found another depth with same pattern, and proceeded to whoopin' on them again. Began wrapping up the rods, and tidying up the boat shortly before 4:30pm. Ended up with my li.it of 20 feeshes!

At the ramp, I was approached by a local older gentleman that was requesting information. Since there are a select few that I share Intel with, he got the had a nice day on the water answer. He then proceeded to hate on the Asian carp, and that a friend of his has xxx number of beds and structure in this lake. He caught 2 keepers just the other day.
I told him that I too feel deeply concerned about our lakes and rivers, and that they are affecti g multiple levels of the fishery, but the lakes are not completely shot. We as fisherman must stay open to change, and adapt. If you don't then you could end up with less fish for the freezer.
He went to say that they have been fishing this way for decades blah, blah, blah.

So, I told him that I had a limit of crappie in the boat that I just caught in around 4 hours. His demeanor completely changed, he rolled up his window and pulled away.

Moral of the story, if you don't adapt you could be left behind...

Thanks for a decent report. Off work next week to come down, after the last reports I was considering hooking the boat up, having my wife kick me in the nuts and just spending the rest the week on the couch licking my wounds and save some money! Lol

Don’t get out much any more, but you’ve hit the nail on the head. My theory always was, if I heard they were hitting on sausage n biscuits, I’d have a big box of Williams sausage n biscuits in my miner bucket. Always be ready to change.

Would you mind divulging the depth you caught them at. I fished 5 hours yesterday with no bites.
