Try the reservoir at Jacobson Park, or Lake Reba in Richmond. Elkhorn Creek at Great Crossings will allow you to do some nice smallmouth & bluegill fishing. As Crappie Pappy said, with the exception of Herrington Lake, the major lakes (Cedar Creek, Taylorsville, Beaver, etc) are about an hour away or more. The KY River is dropping but it remains stained.

Well, you aren't very likely to catch a Crappie at Jacobson Park Lake (this time of year) IMHO, which is why I didn't mention it.

Lake Reba in Richmond was on my mind, but I didn't mention it because I haven't fished there in decades & wasn't sure about it .... but, I'd say it would be better than nothing.

I didn't mention the KY River, because when I passed over it Saturday (BG Parkway) .... it was a mudhole.

If I was going to make the 1.5hr drive to bank fish ... anywhere ... I'd probably fish the spillways at Cave Run or Taylorsville, rather than trying to find a suitable bank on the lakes. And I'd recommend Cave Run over Taylorsville. (there were only two people fishing the spillway at Taylorsville on Saturday). Even so, with the lakes all being at Summer Pool, the discharge rate may not be high enough to really draw any fish to the spillway areas.

there are several parks around L-ville that have fishing ponds and there is always the Ohio. I've never caught any crappie at the parks but there are blue gill you can play with and no telling what you might catch in the river.
google Tom Wallace park in Jefferson Forest or Miles Park of US60 out past Middletown. These 2 places are used for the FINs program.
