Clean your spoons and sharpen your pencils, cranking class is being called into session. On July 21, 2018 a seminar type class on crank bait crappie fishing will be held at Fenton Pavilion. I, and several others, for the last few years have been approached by many individuals about desiring to learn how to start crank bait fishing for crappie. Due to these continual requests, I have decided to ask a few friends to assist me in conducting an open to the public seminar on crappie crank bait fishing.
The seminar will be held at the LBL Fenton Pavilion located by the Fenton boat ramp in Land Between the Lakes. This is across the lake from the Ken Lake State Park. It is immediately to the right after you cross the new bridge traveling from Murray to Ken Lake State Park and into LBL. After you turn right into the Fenton Recreational Area, immediately turn left and the pavilion will be on the right. If you turn right you will end up at the Fenton ramp. This facility has bathrooms, ample parking, and electricity available. While there are several tables with seating I would bring chairs in case seating runs out.
We will have three boats on display that are set up for pulling cranks. Doug will have his Excel there which is set up to pull from the rear deck. Adam will have his Triton there which is set up to pull from the front of the boat. I will have my Wareagle there which is set up to pull from the rear and push from the front at the same time. These boats will give the attendees a basic idea of options of boat set up that might work for them. The boats will be set up prior to start time so ample opportunities will be had for viewing.
Presentations will be conducted on boat set up and equipment usage. Discussions will be provided on how to scout areas to fish and develop cranking routes in these selected areas. Rickie will have his sonar presentation displayed and will give a presentation and answer questions. If you haven't seen his boat and terminal tackle products, this will be an opportunity for you to ask him about them. Several of his products are on my Wareagle.
The event will be scheduled from 0900am till 1200pm. A light lunch of grilled hotdogs and hamburgers will be provided. I will cook several of my cobblers and will have ice cream to go with them. Water will be iced down and available. If you don't like water then I ask that you bring your own sodas. Admission is free. There will be a box set out for donations if anyone wants to kick in to offset costs. This is purely a group of guys helping me do something to help out our sport and this site. If you want to help just holler.
We will give updates on this thread. All I ask is if you are attending, please post in this thread the number so we can plan the logistics of feeding the attendees.
