    Default Cave Run Lake 6-10-18

Made another Cave Run trip (3rd or 4th this year to date) this past Sunday (10th)....didn't quite get out on the water as early as I like to when am actually camping, maybe got out about 7AM. Headed to my favorite location for early mornings, where the river empties into the main lake. Started out fishing (using minnows) in shallow water as I have most early spring....but it proved now TOO shallow as the water has had time to warm up. Spot number one was in about 15-17 feet of water, and I was especially nervous because there were NO fishing jumping anywhere, as to me this is always a good sign when there are some jumpers. After about thirty minutes having no bites whatsoever, moved to another location, deeper, ranging 20 to 25 feet of water, landed on the fish. They came in schools....there'd be periods of no action, but from about 7:30 to 11:30 we managed to bring 23 keepers out, only throwing maybe 3 small's back.

Hey Pappy, no..not that I’ve noticed. I usually fish at the mouth of the river, but driving by the ‘flats’ I haven’t noticed any of the y’all underwater growth yet. Usually by July 4th you’ll see that stuff floating in the main lake where it’s been disturbed & pulled loose from all the increased boat traffic, but the water so far has been relatively debris-free.

Thanks, Maxx !! Maybe the late cold weather & the Feb to May flooding has delayed the grass/moss from getting started at its normal time.
I just remember a few years ago, in Oct, that Carl & I were there and couldn't even fish in some of the creeks/coves because they were totally choked with moss/grass.
