Great times and memories with the little ones! Always great to see!

Against my better judgment, we went crappie fishing today. We got a later start than I would've liked. We didn't get on the water till about 8:30. I spider rigged minnows in 15-20 ft of water, about 10 ft down.
The only thing that made the waves bearable was the way it made my wife giggle like a school girl as we rode out 3' swells, multiple times.😘
CRAZY doesn't begin to describe how crowded it got. We called it quits at Noon after using my last minnow. We loaded up with 3 keepers weeded out of about 40 dinks. Many fish were 9 1/2".
The third biggest fish to come into my boat from Tville was caught on our last spot. Made a good end to the day!
I looked at the radar when I got home and a nice shower was moving right over the lake. I told Sissy that it was a shame all those skiers had to get wet! She just rolled those hazel eyes and said, "Daddy, you're silly!"
Good times!!

Hey, Bubba .... I think I know why they're hanging around the 10' depth (check this chart out) :
COE chart.

so does that mean they are close to the dam
could someone please tell me how to read that
Great post. Enjoyed the pics. Good job
The gold dots represent the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water at that depth. Anything below 5 is too low for most fish to survive in for very long.
The blue squares represent the water temps at that depth (measured in Celcius ). The chart shows that from the surface down to about 7ft deep the water temps are around 81deg. They start dropping down in temp as you go deeper.
The reason I always mention that these temps & O2 readings are "taken at the dam" is because the water in that area goes undisturbed, for the most part, and doesn't always reflect the same readings if taken in other parts of the lake. They can only be used as a guideline of sorts.
I mentioned that I thought I knew why they were at the 10ft depth, based on the O2 reading going below the 5mg/L threshold below that depth (plus the 5deg drop in water temp from surface to 10ft deep).
And no, it doesn't mean they are close to the dam .... just that the readings were taken at the dam, & may vary quite a bit in other parts of the lake. That's why I always mention that the readings were taken "at the dam", so people wouldn't mistakenly think those readings were the same all over the lake.
(Note: I use a conversion site to turn the Celcius temps into Fahrenheit temps)
dannyr3_8 thanked you for this post
thank you so much i get it now
Taylorsville is on my must fish list, but earlier in the year before the pleasure boaters come out of hibernation. I noticed your set up too, Cumberland dble seat, Millenium T bars and a minnow bucket in between identical to my boat, but I am slowly breaking the minnow habit.
Yes, they are Cumberland Crappie double seat pedestals with stock Ranger seats. The holders are actually 360 T-Bars. My only complaint is the vibration from one rod will affect all the poles on the holder. Individual holders would be better but they wouldn't fit on the front of our boat.
I buy minnows to help occupy my son. He loves playing with them. We use jigs too.
Pappy, I fished up the river quite a bit as well as near the dam and the crappie were holding at 10-12 ft at every spot we fished. Water temp was 83ish when we left.
