    Default Guntersville Lake input

I have the itch to go somewhere new crappie fishing. Have been to Weiss years ago and thinking about trying Guntersville.
Would appreciate ANY input on general area of lake to focus on and reasonable places to stay.

    Thanks for the help
    Paul

Lots of water to fish ! A lot of good fish to be caught! weather will determine where the fish are! Lots of grass to contend with .a lot of fair price hotels close by also are a quite a few places to stay on the water for around 100+ bucks per night or more just according to what area you decide to stay! plan ahead because all the green carp guys keeps everything filled up multiple tourneys every weekend now till July! If you can come during the week it’s not too crowded!

I have fished the South Sauty area. Always stayed in Scottsboro as that is where you have to go to eat. There are a few rooms at the resort in Langston but usually booked well in advance. Big water. If the wind is blowing you got problems. Have caught some big fish around the bridge near the ramps. Check out Richard Gene the Fishing Machine on you tube. He fishes Guntersville on a regular basis.

Which towns within about 20 mins of the lake would you suggest for motels ?
Thinking they aren't booked in advance and more likely for me to make a short notice trip.
    Thanks again

If you have never been to Big G I would concentrate on the areas from Scottsboro south. You can tear up some stuff in a hurry in Mud Creek. Around Scottsboro you have Roseberry, South Saulty, North Saulty, and Mink Creek that are easily accessible with marked creek channels. The lower end around Guntersville has Town Creek, Short Creek, Spring Creek, Browns Creek and Honey Comb. Less grass on lower end. As somebody mentioned, this is a big body of water and can get dangerous when the wind gets up especially in a small boat. It is a super place to fish with some monster crappie if you hit it right
