    Default FAQ on license increases

To help answer questions about the reason for license increases, the Department as come up with a series of frequently asked questions. The link can be found at: https://fw.ky.gov/Pages/2018FeesFAQ.aspx

The information can also be found on the website (fw.ky.gov) homepage, listed under "important info."

Please be aware you can still purchase the 2018-19 licenses at the 2017 rate through Feb 28th. In addition to the senior/disabled licenses, affected licenses include; annual hunting, annual fishing, combo hunting and fishing and the joint/spouse fishing licenses.

Also, the Senior license is only going to be raised from $5 to $12 instead of $18.

Thanks, Brad ... good stuff from you, as always !!

Got my Senior License today @ Walmart & payed $5.00 for it. It's a sheet of paper, rather than the little strip like last year's was .... is that going to be the norm, or is it just because I got it before the old license expires and the regular style licenses will be available after March 1st ??

I didn't realize that additional deer permits came with the senior/disabled licenses. There's another perk to retiring!
Did the youth go up any? I can't even remember what I've paid the last couple of years for the daughter's.

Unfortunately all the new licenses will be on the regular paper. I guess this is a cost saving measure and I hate it personally. I've been asked by several if it is okay to laminate the new license. You can laminate the license just be aware if your a hunter and are required to log your harvest, laminating the license would prevent you from being able to record the necessary information on the back. You can print out a separate "harvest log" but this would need to accompany your hunting license while your in the field.

You can print as many of your licenses as you want by going to the website (fw.ky.gov) and click on the blue "My Profile" tab. From there, enter your info and you'll see where you can re-print your license or Hunter Education Card. I print several copies and always have one on my person, and put one copy in my boat.

The youth license will not be increasing.

yes in a state that's telling everyone to recycle and save TREES they go from a LITTLE strip of paper to a whole page I guess that helps save more trees.

now my question for Brad is Can you cut out all the paper surrounding the license or do you have to keep the whole thing intact ?

Louis, you can trim the license down and laminate it to a size that will fit in your wallet.

I am not a fan of the 8.5 x 11, being an Indiana resident for most of my life I’m kinda used to folding up a big sheet in my wallet, but hunting and fishing in Kentucky has spoiled me with the very practical and convenient little green receipt size paper. Shame on you for ending my tranquility

Thanks for the heads up. I just bought the joint license for my wife and I. Does it count as a romantic gift in Kentucky?

Thanks Brad, I just wanted to make sure it was legal to do that. Didn't see anything about that so thought I'd better ask.
