    Default Ky Lake 02/03/18

There were times of some sun that made for some beautiful moments on a otherwise dreary February day. Sounds of the youth weekend duck hunts brought back memories of my clan as they have grown out of "youth" category except for 1 which prefers fishing and volleyball.
Today was one that should be described as "the grind." As a buddy put it tonight, days like this you just have to put your head down, and just fish. And that is what it took, a kind of mess that I scratched, clawed, fought and grind through some raw conditions 38-40 degree water and a bite that was so light they would just suck it in and try to slowly swim away. Your line would slowly move into a different direction without moving the rod tip.
Trying to keep with our self imposed size minimum of 11" was tough on a day of total fish caught of 34, but ended up keeping 16 that met the boat minimum. Regardless, this day was much needed due to some pent up restlessness from hard water and terrible weather conditions.
I continue to learn more and more about these fish. I used some tips and some of my prior knowledge on today's and last weekend outings to truly catch fish in area's that most others would never attempt for these conditions.

Sometimes one must think outside of the box, and go against the grain....

Nice catch. Can't wait for the temps of the air and water to warm a little.
