Fished it last year a few times. Tons of fish....all had heads really close to their tails.

Took a drive up to Bengy Kinman Lake on New Year's Day. The lake was frozen over but the ramp and kayak access looks real nice. Looks like it would be a really good bluegill lake. Has anyone had any luck catching bluegill or crappie there?

The secret to fishing? Fish where the fish are.

When it 1st opened, I heard the crappie were pretty nice but I have never been able to make it down there. If it's a shallow lake, I wonder if a little ice fishing would be possible this month.
I haven't ice fished since I was a kid. I mostly fish OH River creeks now. I'm sure they are frozen over now, and I know of a few good holes, but I don't think I'd trust the ice even in the shallower places.

The fishing there is OK. I live across the Kentucky river from there.
The crappie are stunted though.
The six acre lake across the road from it is stocked with rainbow trout.
lemmylemon, I took a trip up 2-3 weeks ago. Fished off the nice dock. You are correct, the crappie are stunted. Caught several, but stunted, most not worth keeping. I tried Bluegill also, same result, most all were stunted. (Big eyes, no body). I was told I should had fished the lake 'on the hill'. I did a google maps look and there is lake up from the 6 acre lake, but it looks like a pretty good walk. Have you fished this lake?
To all, if anyone did any panfishing this last year at this area (any of he lakes), Crappie, Bluegill, let me know. Looks like the bigger lake gets pounded by Bass Fisheman. If you have a favorite lake of the 3-4 there, let me know.
Thanks, Jim
