Are you moving at least .8 MPH with the jigs when you long line?

Just back from a enjoyable day and a half trip!
Wish it didn't take me so long to change when things aren't working!!!
Caught 8 and 2 cars on Saturday, then went back to the flats below Holmes Bend in 25 feet of water and got another 5 and 3 good cats before finally heading upstream a bit, ended up with 33 good keepers and probably 100 8" fish.
They were deep out off the flats just off the bottom, and shallower upstream.
I spider rigged them with jig and minnow rigs because it's the only way I can get them!
I wish I knew why some can longline with jigs and when I try to spider rig without adding a minnow they pass on it?

I don't really understand why they went upstream and shallower if the lake had just been pulled as hard as it had. I would have guessed the fish would have suspended over deeper water during the level changes and I would have found them near the same deeper channels that they were in before Harvey raised the lake.
I would say because the creek and river was several degrees cooler than the lake. The last time I went the water was 75 on main lake and was told in the river it was in the 60's. That would be my guess why they started heading that way. But with this heat weather this week it may put them back in there summer pattern...
