i honestly don't know the answer but are the yellow bass invasive? i went up to northern iowa last year and went
ice fishing for them and it was fun and a lot of work and went to eat them an they were terrible. i m just spoiled cause
i eat steak all the time(crappie) and these were more in the hot dog category.

If they were cleaned with the red meat left on the filet ... then they probably did taste very "fishy". If that red meat is properly removed, they aren't too bad ... not Crappie good ... but, not too bad.

Taste fine to me...now a white you definitely need the red out if it's very big.

We eat the larger yellow bass we catch when they get north of ten inches or so. It's firmer meat than crappie for sure but it's delicious when cooked. The taste reminds me a lot of white bass.

I love those little yella bellies! Little tater chips. I snack on them while the crappie are frying.
