Yeah, well before anyone gets the idea of just running over there and limiting out, they'd better read the "fine print" :

    Unrestricted Fishing Pass:

    • Access to Lake Vega will be determined by another security clearance being active. $35 per year - a Kentucky State Fishing License is required.

The unrestricted fishing pass gives you access to fish at Lake Vega, Lake Buck & Lake Gem. Fisherman may bring up to 3 guests. Guests are restricted to the cardholders spouse, parents, children, or grandchildren. No in-laws allowed. MWR provides boats for use and are located at each lake. Personal boats are not authorized. Lake Vega is available most weekends and holidays. Lake Buck and Gem are available Monday-Sunday, from dawn until 30 minutes prior to dusk. No one is allowed to fish after dark. Creel limits are posted at each lake.

You qualify for access if you are retired/active military or work for the Department of Defense. Its an amazing bass/crappie lake, if you meet the requirements highly suggest you give it a try.

I'm a vet and I'm "retired" ... but, that doesn't qualify as "retired military"

How much does the "background check" cost these days ??

The background check was free, I didn't get a copy as its done to determine eligibility. I paid 35 dollars for the year to help go for the boats and equipment they provide. Well worth it!!!
