    Default Kentucky Dam Gates

Drove over Ky. dam at 6:30 pm today and all the flood gates are out. Going to get interesting! Lots of floating logs and we have a Ky. high school tournament this weekend.

It would sure be entertaining to watch that tournament launch at KY Dam Marina this weekend with the courtesy dock looking like this today ...

It will be a clusterwad at the ramp with the boaters launching and trying to pick up co-anglers on the ramp itself...

Think what you have is the extensions out of all the gates from where they took the lake up high. Looks like only the far gate on the left is actually open. Discharge would be a lot higher if they really had them all open. I could be wrong, never noticed the difference before this time.

The top of the flood gates are at 375' sea level ...

I think the top of the main gates are somewhere around 361' sea level (I can't find actual documentation) ...

It does look like most of the main gates are closed and spilling over ...

Pretty close to 360.5 I reckon, was still rolling over yesterday morning but we got out and rode around last night before dark and it had quit spilling over except for a little spray from the wave action.
