Caught them last few days in medium to deeper water pulling cranks. Couldn't find any shallow fish this morning north of you.
Taking my wife to ky lake for a week starting 4/9. This will be our first time on ky lake. We're staying in hamlin. Have the fish started noticeably moved to the banks or are they still deeper. Any tips would be much appreciated to help us have a fun successful trip.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the help, I've never pulled cranks for crappie but I'll definitely give it a try!

I fished a Lake in Southern Illinois today that is roughly 100 miles North Of Kentucky Lake and probably averages 6 to 10 degrees colder air temp per day and definitely at night. The water temp when we arrived at about 8:00 Am was 57 and by late afternoon it was 60 to 64. We caught about 50 crappie in 2 ft to 4ft of water on their traditional spawning banks. Sometime would catch the male and then the female or vice versa in the same spot. Caught fish from almost 16" to 9" all doing about the same thing.
If you want to catch fish shallow I would be checking for them...I would be the first to admit Kentucky Lake is a weird bird about when they come in....but I remember a specific trip to Blood river on April 17th-18th some years ago when a weird cold front came in and the day time high one Saturday was 42 degrees and it sleeted and blew a North wind that would make your teeth chatter...but still caught some fish shallow... on or ready to bed.
North KY Lake was dead all morning (4-8-17) ...
Dux pulling cranks was the only early bite I talked too ...
Fish started biting better afternoon in 12-16ft (spider riggin minners and gnats) ...
Even found a few very shallow (5ft) very late (7pm) ...
Wind and high pressure is what I'm blaming it on ...
Sunday bad windy ... Monday may be better ...
