Default Bait shops, Georgetown to I75 North

Need help with finding bait shops (need minnows), starting at Georgetown KY and North on I-75. There is now only one bait shop in Georgetown, KY, and it opens sometimes during the week(owner guides and only opens when not guiding) and not until 9-10am in the morning. I want to do some fishing at either Corinth, Williamstown, or Boltz lake. Anyone know of any bait shops near these lakes. Hate to have to head south to Lexington to get bait, then head back north to fish.

    Later, Jim

I would think that Gtown would support a good bait shop. I live in Cynthiana and we have 2. What happened to MK outdoors? It may benefit you to setup some type of tank system and buy them a pound at a time. There's really no place for you to buy bait, The bait shop at Corinth lake is closed. There may be someplace in Corinth if I find out I will let you know.

There is a bait shop in Walton. It's on 25 North of 16. I think that they may have minnows at a gas station at Dry Ridge. It is west of 75 on the South side of the road beside of tire discounters

Many thanks, Abu65, MK is out of business as of February 28th according to the owner, He said he feels that the fishing world has shifted to us 'older' people and the business is just not good enough to support his bait shop. I kinda agree with the 'older' comment. Somehow we need to get a generation of fisherman or fisher ladies going. The young ones seems to want to play the games at home and not get out enough. I have two grandsons that are in this group. Hard to get them out to go fishing even when I put them on fish(panfish). We do have two FIN lakes here, but talking with the ones fishing here, they have the same problem with getting bait. Walmart for worms(redworms, waxworms, mealworms, nightrcrawlers) is about the only reliable bait shop here.

The one in Walton is the only one I've located. I did call him. He says he's open every day and has minnows.

I'm going back 2 years but the Road Ranger gas station at the same exit as Boltz Lake off 75 had a big tank of minnows that they sold by the dozen. It's the station next to Tire Discounters. I would call first. They may not any longer, or they may do it seasonally.

I don't know about you guys ... but, why bother with minnows ?? I mean, you're considering fishing small lakes that are likely overpopulated with stunted fish ... and they're likely super competitive over anything swimming in the water that they think they could possibly get in their mouths. So why not just cast or troll a jig or Roadrunner around the lake ??
And some of those lakes have resident populations of boaters (not angling boaters) that are going to be rippin' & jerkin' all over the place, when the weather allows ... so what makes you think you're going to be able to leisurely fish a minnow ?? OK - OK ... that may be a worst case scenario, but you get my drift ?? Longline trolling or casting doesn't require live bait, nor does it matter so much that the lake isn't particularly calm.

Just my opinion on something to consider !!

Crappiepappy, I totally get what your saying. I'm sure it's just me but I swear I catch more tipping with minnows. I know it's just me as I have seen many nice catches on jigs and Roadrunners too.
