My last few trips to a Cabela's were very disappointing. The one in Bowling Green is tiny and mostly clothes. On a positive note rumor has it that Academy is coming to Paducah.

I've been in all of them at 1 time or another and they all look like a Department Store for clothing with some gear around the perimeter and nothing but clothing in the whole middle. Matter of fact that describes the NEW ACADEMY store that opened here a few months ago. JMO

The new Paducah Academy building is going up fast. Hopefully the local general manager will keep the fishing section relevant to our local needs. The store in Elizabethtown they opened up a couple years back is solid and I always load up at the one when we're in Mobile fishing the gulf. Cabela's two fishing strengths are in walleye/salmon trolling gear and their fly fishing selection.
I'd like for them to seriously consider redesigning that intersection on Hinkleville as westbound traffic already backs up out of the turning lane in the evenings and on weekends. The stoplight is a short one too.
Like to see them buy Gander mountain, they're going bankrupt. Nice to have smaller satellite stores for the not so big towns
And with that, I'll see you on the water...

Academy is a solid fishing store. I use the one in Madison, TN a fair amount. Typically better than basspro prices on slider grubs and usually as good of a selection.
wish the one here was,, Think of a big square box now go about 25' from the outside walls and draw a square that's the clothing dept. the rest is the gear dept.s around the perimeter with a large shoe dept in the left rear corner up the side and across the back. Where the fishing gear is the aisles are so narrow that you can hardly walk past another shopper unless they step forward so close to the shelves they can't get a good view of the items they're looking at. They do have a lot, but it's crammed into too small a space and aisles too close together JMO
