I've known a couple friends who have had tennis elbow. They had to buy a cheap compression strap to go around their forearm and keep constant pressure on the elbow tendons. Helped both of them get over it pretty fast.

I do a lot of fly-fishing and more than 20 minutes with any rod above a 6WT has me in pain. I went through two other Tennis Elbow Braces until I found one with a Pneumatic pad and it works GREAT. I found mine at a CVS or one of the other "big box" drug stores. It is similar to the one pictured in the link below. Do not get one without the pad as you will have to tighten it too much to get it to work and then the brace itself becomes uncomfortable. With the pad you do not have to tighten it much to be effective.

Bandchaser I get either tennis elbow or gout. It hits me different joints. Had to hit my elbow once when I get this the joint it hits is useless gets so bad cannot used the joint it hits. I end up have to take cortisone injection, this is the only thing will help me. After the injection it gets better.

I didn't have the success Little John had with the cortisone The injection worked great ... it worked so good I no longer had any pain. Problem was a few months later when it worn off , without the pain to limit me I had damaged it even more. Insurance paid for me to go to physical therapy.... is was skeptical but went when I was suppose to and did the excercises they gave me and that got me back in good shape.

Same as clint but found that mine worked best as tight as I could get it...to the point of tingly fingers.

Rest is best, so if you can figure out what it is that irritates it and try to limit that or change how you do it. Holding things or using your hand can both cause it. Casting is a good way to irritate it.

Problem with most things like this is that once it starts to hurt, swelling makes it get more irritated and then it hurts and swells more. Rest it, ice it, modify your use. A compression band will allow you to use your hand while resting the sore part. The band actually pinches the tendon a couple of inches from where it connects to the bone so you can use your hand without causing more inflammation.

Wear the brace and do stretches. TE is inflammation of ligaments in your elbow. Do you do a lot of pinch grip with your thumb and first two fingers?

    Smash,
It all started in november with this fantastic crappie fishing we have had. Then during recovery of the 2nd surgery, I couldn't do anything so it was able to rest, and for just common everyday stuff I could do. This past week and half its flared back up, and all weekend it's back to the constant nagging pain.

Stopped this morning by my doctor's office, to see what he might do, see me or just send me to a P.T., and they went ahead and took me back. Ended up giving me some anti-inflammatory patches, and if they work to take script he gave me to be filled for the pills.
Rest, ice, heat and stetches is his best advice, and going to try to stay away from injections.

Rest, ice, stretch and massage. The stretching for me seemed to do the most good.
