    Default Tville 1/2/17 Report

My daughter has been asking me to take her fishing since I took my son about a month ago. Today was the day, so I taught her some preparation routines I go thru before each of my trips. We restrung and retied jigs on four rods last night and gathered her cold weather gear together. She got to sleep with me so we wouldn't disturb Momma or Bubba when 5 am arrived this morning. Like my Papaw said about my Daddy one time, she kicked like a mule in a tin barn stall all night!!

Surprisingly she woke up easily this morning and we loaded the boat up with our gear. Heavy fog greeted us for our ride to the lake. We got to the ramp at daylight and the water looked like cappuccino. Water levels were almost back to winter pool, save about six inches I'd say. We got the boat launched and headed to our first spot. Our first two casts were double dinks. Then she casted again to a thump from a 10 1/2" black. All by herself, no help from Daddy. She reeled it in on the rod I made for her and she was all smiles!! We caught three keepers there and decided to move spots.

We traveled slowly and cautiously as the fog was thick and I was carrying precious cargo. Our next spot was about a mile away so we had a little ride. Our next spot greeted us with 10 keepers and a few shorts. She casted herself and caught several more fish. The fog started to lift a little into the woods around the lake and made for beautiful scenery.

We finished out her limit on our next spot and I could tell she was ready to go home. (Because she was asking me to!!) She helped me load the boat and hook up our tie down straps. We had a great two hours on the water. Seeing her cast and catch several fish on her own was pretty special. She is growing up way too fast!!

Sometimes raising children can be testing, but I wouldn't trade mine for a billion bucks. Both of them show an interest in the outdoors, both hunting and fishing, and I wanna do my best to instill those wholsome values in each of them. We have a great state to take advantage of the outdoors and teach the next generation to love crappie fishing, just like me.

    God Bless my fellow fisherman.

    Happy New Year.

Great job and I don't mean the fishing report. My youngest is 27 now and I sure do miss the days that I spent with her and her sister on the water.

I was there yesterday too. It was a great day to be on the water no wind and warm for this time of year and the crappie was chomping. We got our's in a little over 3 hours.
