My wife and I took the kiddos out fishing again today. We got to the lake about 9:30 am after the search for minnows ended. Everyone ran out of them after the holiday weekend I guess. My daughter and I spider rigged double minnow rigs for about half an hour and picked up 4 keepers. She wanted to run all the way up the lake so we cruised up to Levy Creek. By the time we got back to the marina it was time for lunch.
After lunch at the marina, we went back out fishing. I tried a couple methods but casting Bobby Garland Mo Glo jigs in about 6-8 ft water produced. Some dark clouds came over us and blocked out the sun and the bite seemed to pick up. No big ones but some solid keepers.
The kids had fun and the food at the marina was really good. We ended up with 7 solid keepers and a couple more on the border of 9". By the time we got home we were all ready for some home grown watermelon that was waiting in the fridge!! It's hot!!!!
The secret to fishing? Fish where the fish are.
Thanks for the report, Bubba !! It'll only get better as the temps start cooling off !! I hope to get over there later this month, and hope I find them like I did in late Sept last year. Catching them in 3-5fow in the early afternoon was a hoot last year, and I know my BFFFF (best female fishing friend forever), Rachel, is "on ready" for a repeat fishing trip.
