    Default Bowling Green KY

My mother in law lives in Bowling Green, KY. Wife was born and raised there. If I were to pull the boat up there this summer, anyplace nearby with decent fishing? Thanks.

Barren River Lake would be the closest ... just about 45mins East of Bowling Green.

Also Lake Malone-Barkley-KY Lake-Nolin but Barrens the closest. If I was going to pull my boat that far I would make sure I got to fish KY Lake.

That might depend on how big & what kind of boat he has !! I wouldn't want to be on KY/Barkley in the Summer, and be in a 14' jonboat or even a small boat with a small HP motor. There's just going to be too many "players" out there, ripping & jerking all over the place ... not to mention the wind or potential for a quick thunderstorm to pop up.

The actual Barren River itself and Green River are closer options. Probably not better options however, especially for crappie. But their are big muskie and fair sized bass and catfish in both rivers. There is a ramp on Barren right in town at Weldon Peete park. There are ramps on Green in the northern part of Warren County out 185. One above and one below lock and dam #5.

You can fish on Green River inside mammoth cave national park boundaries without a license as well.

I appreciate you're posts folks. I have a 18 foot Tracker that can handle big water such as Toledo Bend. Thanks so much for the comments.
