Taylorsville MARATHON 87 A&M Oil/Spirit Gas 502-477-1654 1088 Bloomfield Rd 2015-06-11
Does anyone know where I can find Non-Ethanol fuel around the Taylorsville area? I have a 97 Johnson 150 Fast Strike and it hates this "up to 10% ethanol" fuel in the warmer months.

"Where am I going and why am I in this handbasket ?"
south etown key oil 24hr about 60 cents higher
There is an app for your smart phone called Pure Gas which will show you the local stations that sell Non-Ethanol Gas. Go to the Maps screen and you can zoom in and pick any area. In the Gas Stations screen it uses the internal GPS to find the closest stations.
On line go to Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada.

They only list the ones that people have submitted, so there may be others in the same areas that sell E0 gas ... but, just haven't submitted that info to that site.
Case in point ... Green River Bait & Grocery, at the corner of Knifely Rd & W Egypt Rd. (just up the road from Holmes Bend Marina)

My older Johnson outboard got to a point that it would hardly run on the gas with ethanol. Out of the blue, I decided to try the ethanol free gas and it started running like new. I now run it my outboard, Toyota Tundra, lawnmower, weed trimmers and gas tractor. I feel that any gas engine will run better and get better mileage and last longer with the non-ethanol fuel. A friend, who's as conservative as they come, started using it in his car and kept close records on his mileage vs. cost says it costs more but gave enough extra mileage to make up the difference.
I live in Logan County just West of Bowling Green and it can be purchased at Southern States Coop. stores and at Key Oil stations and some Marathon stations. It usually costs from 25 to 30 cents per gallon more. I'm ready to burn some and catch some CRAPPIE!
My mechanic explained it like this: The carbs on the Fast Strike engines are mounted directly on the engine block. In hot weather when u shut the engine off the heat from the block seperates the ethanol from the gas in the bowls. When u try to start the motor up to move to your next spot, the motor burns the gas off the top then gets to the pure ethanol in the carbs. It won't run on pure ethanol so the motor bogs down and u have to pump the bulb to get fresh non-seperated gas to the carbs from the cooler fuel tank. This cycle starts over every time you shut the motor off. U talk about a real pain when u are in a hurry!!!
I have run non-ethanol gas from around Ky Lake in my motor in really hot weather and have not had a problem at all. That tells me my mechanic knows what he is talking about. Don't get me wrong, I love my 150 Fast Strike. It is a BEAST! I just wanted to get some locations close I cld get the right fuel. Thanks guys for all the info!
A big problem with Ethanol Gas is that the older outboards (like mine) have gaskets and rubber hoses that were not meant to have alcohol run through them. The alcohol will eat some of the older rubber parts. Last summer a buddy with whom I fish was having the worst time with his Merc. Turned out that the alcohol had eaten the inside of his fuel line and had deposited massive amounts of gunk in his fuel pump/filter system. Bad enough so it had to be replaced as it could not be cleaned out. New filter assembly and fuel line and now it runs like new. I think some of the newer motors are built able to withstand the alcohol so it may not bother them. I will never put Ethanol Gas in my 30 year old 'Rude.
