    Default Is it too early?

I've made another fishing trip to Canada recently with ten old friends. We had such a good time watching each other, we didn't move as gracefully as we once did but we made up for it by eating more than we should have. Every breakfast we had would a made my heart doctor roll his eyes. We made so much gravy an biscuits we ran out of flour. One dish that didn't materialize that I'd spotted in an article was taking fillets, cutting them length wise, season with garlic powder and lemon pepper, wrap with bacon, place on skewer and grill. While their on the grill salt an pepper to taste then drizel with olive oil. Cook till, in this case crappie, turn white and flaky. Now for my question, is it too early to come up with ideas for cooking for "Fall Brawl".Name: 11695431_1052181594793318_8580918237507472593_n.jpg

Too early? You keep coming up with great looking items like that, we may put you in charge of cooking. Those look great.

I've had to change the way I'm eating and how much. My wife and I have come up with every way imaginable to utilize crappie fillets. Ifish (Buddy) gave me a great recipe for crappie with fresh squash (2 items I can't get enough of) and we've had to share it with lots of folks.

Where are the fish pictures from Canada? What species did you guys catch? I've been to the great lakes several times for Walleye, smallmouth & Pike. But always wanted to do a fly in or something similar. Got any recommendations?

I too am trying to change my ways. Haven't had any potatoes and very little bread for 4 weeks now. Dropped almost 10 lbs and still need to lose a bunch more.

I was pretty pumped last week when I went to my Dr and I had dropped almost 30 pounds in 2 months. I was forced by 2 worn out knees to make some life-long life-style choices. Eating healthier was the big one. Funny thing is I have not been hungry one minute since I started. French fries and lots of sweets have become a thing of my past. I have a closet full of jeans and shirts that have been neglected for several years. I'm about to get to where they are back in circulation.

I still have a long way to go to get where I hope to be.

SS1 ... dude, you can bring ANY food item you want to bring to the Fall Brawl !! You know it's gonna get eaten, and maybe even fought over

I've eaten Muskie, & Walleye, so Pike can't be too much different.

    ... cp

Pike isn't bad. Much better fresh than frozen. Sure are a different animal to fillet with the Y-bone.

There's dozens of videos on you tube on how to fillet those suckers. After watching them all, i'm sure I can do it. Heck, I might even be able to pull their teeth after watching so many videos.

I think the technique to fillet pike is the same that is used for the Asian carp. The big issue with them (besides the word CARP) is the Y-bone structure.
