Default Green River Lake Tree Cutting

FROM THE COE GREEN RIVER LAKE FACEBOOK PAGE:
We have gotten reports from Fish and Wildlife that there are several hinge cuttings of fairly large trees around the shoreline of the lake. We are assuming that people are doing this for fish attractors. This practice is ILLEGAL! Cutting of any tree on government property without permission is illegal. If you know of anyone doing this please let the Corps of Engineers office know.

Removing trees from the shorline can cause huge erosion problems, not to mention it just makes ...for an unattractive shoreline. We here at Green River Lake are blessed to have such a beautiful lake and we'd like to keep it that way. There are much better ways to put fish attractors in the lake, besides cutting down trees ILLEAGALLY from the shoreline.
If you or someone you know is interested in putting fish attractors into the lake all you have to do is contact KY Dept of Fish and Wildlife Fisheries Biologist Eric Cummins at 270-746-7129 or by email [email protected]. The permit is free and easy to acquire, no one should be putting attractors into the lake without permission!

It's easy just get in contact with Eric and he can send you the paper work. Let him know what part of the lake you are wanting to add attractors and he will
let you know what is allowed. Most of us already know what is allowed (after talking to Eric) and it is not cutting trees.
Time spent on the water is not deducted from one's lifespan.

I think the main reason most don't go the legal route is because those attractor spots are made public by the KDFWR and those people doing it illegally don't want the general public knowing where their "Secret" spots are located. That's just my opinion, and I'm not excusing them for breaking the law by saying that.

And on Green River Lake ... KDFWR has already put out nearly 100 spots (brush piles, pallet stacks, stake beds, cedar trees) and GPS coord's are available online.
