You can ask here. And to that question, my answer would be "probably in the mid to low 40's"

You could also try these ph#'s :

    Taylorsville - 502 477 8606
    Green - 270 465 8824
    Cave Run - 606 783 7001
    Herrington - 859 748 4685
    Cumberland - 606 678 8697
    Ky Lake - 800 238 2264 ... press 1 for lake levels, then press 33 (or call 502 924 2000 Ext 2)
    Barkley - 270 362 8430 or 270 924 2000 Ext 2

No guarantee of water temp reading, or even if the numbers are still current. I've got numbers for several other lakes, too, so ask for them by name and I'll post what I have (if I have a number for that lake).

You might also try calling a large marina on the lake of interest, and see if they have a temp reading.

The lakes in the "Louisville District Daily Lake Report" have temp readings & dissolved oxygen readings ... but, they're several months out of date. I do not know when they will start updating that information. The Taylorsville COE page says they take these readings from late Spring to early Winter, during the stratification period.

Went Monday, water was 40 degrees.
Ice on the lake midways between Settlers and Chowning.
I couldn't get a bite, got checked by the game warden
and he said no one he checked had caught anything.
Ice was all gone by afternoon.

I went to t-ville lake tuesday afternoon fished the Houghlin bend area, the water temp was 37.2 to 37.8 degrees. I had a pretty good afternoon, I landed 14 crappie, 10 were over 9". I kept 6 that were 10 to 13", we had them for supper this eve. and were great. If it wasn't for down imaging I think I would have gotten skunked. The fish were in 24 to 28 ft of water, suppended at 12 to 15 ft deep, they were not in the middle of the big trees but between the trees. I also believe in really using scent on my jigs in the winter. The bite was very lite, never felt the crappie thump, the line would limp. I fish t-ville in the winter a lot and have never seen the crappie so full of shad when I cleaned them, the 13" crappie was like me over weight and very fat, with fresh shad & very decomposed bait. I fish with a 32nd oz homemade craft fur and duck feather jig. When I could see the fish on the down imaging I would lower the jig to them and let it soak in front of them. Was a good afternoon, the turkeys were even .gobbling, good fishing

Dave .... I've experienced the Crappie hanging out "between" the trees, rather than in/close to them, even in the pre-spawn period. That may be why casting a Roadrunner between the trees has worked so well for me at those times

"The line would limp" .... yep, my favorite way to detect a bite, seeing the line go limp. (when they come up under it, grab it, and keep coming up for a moment before turning and going back down) No guesswork or wondering "was that a bite" or "do they still have it" ... it's just set the hook & let the fun begin !!

Thanks for the report, and glad you got out there & caught some good fish.

Slab hunter at T-ville lake I fish vertical just about all the time. There are so many trees that I just slowly go from tree to tree, I have lived in this area most of my life, there are some trees that always seem to have fish in them. I do sometimes cast like pappy said but 80% of the time I just flip jigs to the trees. I fish T-ville in the winter because I live in nelson co & its close to home. Come march, april, may, and oct, nov, I will usually be found at Ky and Barkley lakes, and then I will be casting for crappie & redears. T-ville is changing with age, I am finding crappie deeper now than ever before. Tuesday I saw fish on the depth finder down to 35 ft. There used to be no air for them that deep, the water color was very good tuesday, the clearest I have ever seen there, could see my little jig at over 2 ft. Good fishin

Yeah, like Dave says ... I pretty much depend on casting jigs at T-ville. That would be either a 1/16oz marabou Roadrunner over the tops or in between wood cover, or a 1/16oz weedless jighead w/plastic body down in/around the wood cover. I prefer to fish the blowdowns, and the bigger ones that the tops reach down into ~20fow. But, there are times when they will hang out in the branches of standing timber (hardwood) or in between trees in a stand of cedars.

I've fished the lake since it was opened, and now it seems the Crappie are much bigger than they've ever been. And Dave is also correct in saying the lake is "changing". Flood periods have moved some blowdowns, and created new ones. The KDFWR has recently placed about a dozen stake beds around the lake, some of which I saw last year. I wasn't there when they would potentially have been used by the Crappie, so I don't know if they're going to be used. They were a little on the shallow side, to my way of thinking, as I've caught most of my spawning Crappie in 6-8fow.
