Going to see my Mom this afternoon. I have been blessed to know all my Grandparents and some of my Great Grandparents. I remember our family going to a little Methodist church (Friendship) with my Grandmother on my Dad's side for Mother's Day. All the mothers were given either a white or red carnation. The significance was lost on a young boy who was much more worried about eating a huge lunch and then heading to Eddy Creek to fish with my Dad and Uncle. My Grandmother and both Great Grandmothers are now buried in the shadow of that little church. The meaning of the red and white carnations is much more important now.
