they never have found one to kill only shad so I doubt there is a poison specific to one type of fish

Why would we want to kill shad?
I think they're on the right track. They need to attack the carp on a genetic level.
Something has GOT to be done soon. These fish have negatively impacted EVERY ecosystem they have been introduced to. Eventually the game fish populations and growth rates will adjust down to the forage availability. It's already happening in the Ill River.

I'm surprising fishing is as good as it is right now because the population is growing so fast. Lately, I've been spooking some as I idle back to the dock that have been jumping out of the water. I've talked to several people that have had them jump in the boat with them. Some have even been hit by them. I'm all for them looking into a way to reduce these things and ....... not hurt the local gamefish in the process.

I agree with Wiskers...need to find a glitch in their DNA...these things will absolutely ruin a fishery...no laughing matter.

I had one crack my motor cover. I've been hit in the head and the back. I even had one hit the dog. Some waters I fish are horrible with them. I can throw my motor into neutral and rev it up and it looks like it's raining 20-30 pound carp in a creek off the ohio river I fish. Something needs to be done. I read an article that said 66 percent of the bio mass was carp in the ohio river. That's crazy!
Semper Fidelis!
it is out of control something needs to be done soon some lakes in ind. are so full of shad they are stunting the growth of crappie and gills great for bass and cats though
I was fishing on the main lake Monday a little ways south of Moors and I saw a dead one that appeared to be about 4 foot long, nasty looking creature
