What about 2 divisions with a fall classic somewhere in between. western and eastern. Just throwing out ideas. Example KY/Barkley, Barren, Green and Taylorsville, Cave Run, Herrington. With the Classic at Cumberland. Center of state somewhat. Again just throwing out ideas.
Take you kids fishing today!!! They will be grown (and married and have children of their on) tomorrow. Then you can take your GRANDKIDS!

chucky you are right if it is all about the money. then this aint for you. and i think everyone is blowing it up way to much to fast. i do like the first ideal, fish 2 or 3 tourneys just to see how many is interested. but you know i am in no matter how it goes.

and for the ones that doesnt know t.slabseeker and slabslayer1 it is worth fishing just to watch the show they put on at the end.

That's exactly what this thread is for .... throwing out ideas !!

I don't know about "divisions" ... as that would seem to indicate that only members from that "area" would be able to fish that division's lakes. There may well be some that would travel the distances to fish a particular lake, even if it weren't on their side of the dividing line. Chucky's idea of having the "lakes" chosen, first in one area & then the next in the other, would preclude any need for "divisions" ... as I assume they'd be open to anyone, from anywhere, willing to travel to that particular lake.

The only ruling that I would insist on having for these tourneys, is that at least one person in any participating boat must be a Crappie.com member !! Any other rules or considerations could be voted on, in a poll, if need be.

I also don't see a need for a "classic" ... unless or until we have a functioning club, and more than 3 tourneys/year. And the tourneys should not be scheduled to interfere with the current events that are ongoing annually (Spring Fling/Fall Brawl @ Green - Spring/Fall Shindigs @ Ky Lake). And we might even have to take into consideration the CUSA & CKCA events, since some of our members are involved in those "clubs/events", as well.

Keep the ideas flowing !! The more concerns we address, the better chance we'll have to have greater participation & a fair/clean/well run tourney trail.

maybe IF there is a tourney maybe we should have it where most of the people will go to. that way we might have a better ideal of what people are wanting to do going forward. and as far as rules i dont see anything wrong with crappie usa rules.

I like the 2 divisions idea, but think we should divide it differently. I propose we let all the Louisville Basketball fans fish in 1 division and all the UK Basketball fans fish the other. I will graciously volunteer to be the 1 Louisville fan (just during the tournaments) if the money's right.

Don't know if that ideal will work either. Louisville tourneys may be kinda small, 2-5 boats . (JK)

I guess we already have our club and didn't realize it. One thing that we all have in common and one of the bylaws being that a member has to be in each boat during a tournament. "Crappie.com Fishing Club Kentucky Chapter" or some other cooler name .

Two divisions could possibly work that was stated by buffalo13. Some members may not be able to afford to travel much and this would keep travel to a minimum. But we would have to elect one person from each division to officiate the tourney. Start with 3 tourneys for each division but i would not schedule them on the same weekend so that if someone from either side wanted to attend any of the tourneys, they could. Be open to any crappie.com members from Florida to California if they wanted to come.

If we possibly looking at doing a fish-off or classic then we need to look at moving towards that direction, even starting out. We either need to do members dues (what ever the amount is) or do a 80/20 on the payouts at the tourneys. The 20% from each tourney or dues, or both would go towards the "classic". We could get a first and second place trophy and the rest go towards payouts. Start with the 3 tourneys on each side and if they go well, then add three more and then so on. At the end, vote on three lakes centered in the middle of the state for the Classic and then vote. Lake with the most votes wins.

Wish there was a way that we could all just get together to discuss this. We could work it all out in a day. The one thing i have seen in clubs starting out that usually upsets people the most is that the rules or bylaws are always getting changed. If this is going to work then we need to try and get it right the first time. This is just my thoughts and suggestions.

And if it don't work out and there is money left from the tourneys, then we all just pile in our cars with our families and head to the closest buffet.
