Default Trolling crankbaits around Big Sandy?

Hey guys. I'm new to trolling crankbaits and while I've read several forums/articles about trolling crankbaits and believe I have the basic understanding down, I was wondering if anybody trolls crankbaits around the big sandy area and would have any tips? I've been trolling jigs for a long time now so trolling is not new to me but I have never tried crankbaits. I usually put in around the Mansard Island area all spring. Where are some good generals areas to try this around there? Or anywhere for that matter? The creek channel? Around the power lines? Swamp creek area?

Any info would be great! Thanks guys!

We troll crankbaits all the time for big Crappie don't have an area for you, but i do have this.Cabela's lead core line in 14lb test. You can get your crankbaits to 7 to 8' at .8 mph not 1.5 or 2 mph or 10 to 20' with just more line. .8 to 1mph great for Crappie.....tim

Oh if you get it go with 24"s of 8 or 10lb test Leader.

Thanks! I'm not really looking for an area more just general info. Do you stay on the channel ledges a lot? The mouth of creeks? Obviously you let the fish tell you where they are at and it can change from day to day but where is your preference to start looking first thing in the morning?

You have it all right. morning 5 to 8' and this time of year maybe go to 10 to 12' . If you have maps on your GPS this is great to see were your goin eH. Look for humps & ledges comin up.
