    Default Northern Kentucky minnows

Does anybody have any suggestions on where I might find some decent minnows in NKY? I spend all spring at Ky Lake and came back the first of the week for my granddaughter's college graduation. Going back week after next. I decided to give some of the River creeks a try and started looking for minnows. I went to a well-known outlet and got sticker shock! Bait at The Lake is $1.25 doz for NICE minnows. Here its $2.39 for VERY small mediums, counted by hand, and at least 10 were dead when I got to the water. I don't guess I'll be able to do anything about the price (supply and demand), but there has to be somebody with some better quality. I NEED HELP!!!

The only place I know of is latonia bait and tackle, but I am going to take a wild guess and say that is the place you are talking about. I just bought some last night, they always die quick, and their definition of medium size is almost funny. I had minnows that could have laid comfortably across a quarter. A few were so small my hook cut them in half while hooking them.

I wouldn't go that far. Both have their days.

Seems like if I'm lake fishing, jigs would be all I need or at least in my mind. If I'm going to the river tribs then I want minnows in the boat. Although I know other people that only fish jigs & they seems to do alright. Just a matter of preference/confidence.

Baitshop in Augusta, Kentucky has good minnows year round. If you are in that area.
