Hiring a guide down there could be a trip saver. Try Richard Williams or just look up others on the internet. October can be a fine time for crappie and you can usually catch some bluegill around brushpiles then too. The guide will have a pretty good idea where the fish will be.

Personally, if I were going to KY Lake & fishing in the Paris Landing area .... I'd post on the Tenn forum, plus I'd exchange PM's with "Cane Pole" for a couple of weeks prior and get the latest scoop on what was happening from him.

If you're talking about going NEXT Mon-Wed ... PM Wiskers, mrdux, BIGBADDAD, ifish, or one of the other "local" members, and see what they have to say.

I went out last Monday & had 18 crappie (all Blacks but 1) & several good Yella Belly Stripes! Those little suckers are some fine eating!

I started early & caught fish from 10' to 14'. Surprisingly I was catching them on the ledges in the mouth of the bay starting out. Starting snooping around & caught fish half way back in the bay despite 80 degree water. Can't remember 1 brush pile I didn't cat fish on. Caught a ton of short fish. They were mostly whites.

I was fishing the Bobby Garland Baby Shad in Monkey Milk & Sunrise, on a 1/8 oz Chartreuse head.

Most of the fish were in the 11" range with 2 about 12". I was a little disappointed in the condition of the fish. They weren't fat like we're used to seeing'um around here. The looked poor to me.

That's the best I can do for ya. Good luck!

Just got off the water at birdsong. Caught 1 fish all day. People who have Matts marked on gps are catching fish. Hire a guide! Crappie Fishing is slow!

The thought of you on the beach makes me remember those Nat Geo sea mammal documentaries.
