Fished Green this morning and limited out by 9. Then switched gears and tried trolling for a walleye near the dam. Instead I ended up boating a 34" musky on 10lb P-line on a 12' BnM rod-weighed in at 15.2lbs. It was a fat healthy fish that really slimed and stunk up the boat. The fight was amazing and can see why guys spends days trying to catch one of these beautiful fish but never again will I lay one down in my boat...slimed me worse than a catfish.
I'm glad you guys got on some fish this morning. I found a bunch of baitfish about 15 feet down in 28-40 feet of water and the crappie were stacked up past Butler. Most of "the crowd" was fishing the 16-18ft flats and I never left the deep water. When I found the bait, I found the fish. Nothing real big, just good 10-11 inch fish. I switched to another type of crank for walleyes by the dam but never caught a crappie down there-never saw any shad balls for that matter either, just a bunch of gar surfacing.
My first Musky came from Green while crappie fishing over twenty years ago. It hit a roadrunner tipped with a slider grub. It was an unreal fight on 4 lb test and measured 33 inches. We went back the next day loaded down with some borrowed musky lures and cast our arms off and never saw one. We finally gave up and started bass fishing and within an hour my buddy caught his first musky....good times!
