I have mine mounted maybe two feet from my Humminbird right to the boat (no pole). It been there several years with no issues. LCR works fine as does the GPS part of the unit. But maybe there is something different about Lowrance. Not for sure.
Hey guys,
I am mounting an external Lowrance antenna and was wanting some advice from my c.c fellow fishers. Lowrance told me to mount antenna at least 3 feet away from finder or it could damage the finder. I have always had the antenna next to finder, but am redoing my boat. My questions are:
1) Where did you mount your antenna?
2) How did you mount it (on pole mount somewhere, on side of something, custom mount ...)?
Just hunting for best place and how.
thanks

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
I have a ram mount on the front and it has an adapter plate that my antenna is mounted on. just inches.
Have had no problems yet.
Take you kids fishing today!!! They will be grown (and married and have children of their on) tomorrow. Then you can take your GRANDKIDS!

I want mine mounted as close to the transducer as I can get it. Especially on an SI unit. If your transducer's on the stern & your antenna's at mid-ship on a 20' boat, you have created a 10' error right off the bat.
My 997 antenna is right over my transducer.
