    Default Cave Run 11-22

Put in at scotts creek. Lake is 1.5 ft over winter pool 56 deg clear water. Went looking for black crappie suspended under bait with side imaging. Wish I could show yall some pics from the sonar, found the motherload in the perfect spot but friend could only coax one real nice slab into biting and lost him at top of water, big crappie. Found loads of shad and fish below them in trees lining the creek channel at the mouth of major creek where channel swings by point in creek mouth. Channel swings right by a point and it was loaded, a huge laydown had fell on the channel drop too and all the trees were loaded with fish about 10-20 ft down in 25-35 ft. We got there late and id say high sun may have put em off but that spot and another exactly like it were choc full of fish. Fished both spots with minnows and jigs, only fish came 5 ft down in 28 ft. on brush but it was a dandy, too bad he slowly flopped off, seemed really lethargic. Sometimes the fish wold move out of trees over creek channel and wear out shad on the sonar and we couldnt buy a bite. Any suggestions on my epic fail.....Figured it would be a stress reliever from deer woods and now im flustered. Wanna go back and try those fish again real early or late.

Nate, dont' get discouraged about the things going on in the deer woods. Harrison killed a nice buck, but I've yet to see a deer while sitting in a stand. Knew I should quit deer hunting and just crappie fish. I'm sure you'll get them figured out and be slaying em soon. I'm hoping the weather remains somewhat stable through December so I can catch some Christmas crappie. Good luck buddy.

We been having the same issues on Ky. Lake. One day you can't get a good bite going and then the next few days the bite is really good. I have been watching the barometer lately and they seem to be biting good when the pressure is going down.We have been having a lot of fronts coming through and I feel like that is affecting the bite a lot this fall.Same thing on graphing the fish. Lots of fish sometimes and no bites.I take minnows and sometimes that is all they want.Congratulations on the nice buck Harrison!! Here is a barometer history at NOAA.

hey brad, glad Harrison got one, now ya got the freezer stocked. Has been pretty odd season. I stuck a nice heavy 8 the week before rifle season w/ bow but never found him. Guess bad karma after wounding that deer has made my firearm season and fall crappie fishing turrible.

ifish, i dont know if its hit or miss here cuz ive only been one day lately but judging by the bait and fish we saw and where we saw em' it should only be a matter of time before they bite. We had some real nice minnows(big) and threw everything but the kitchen sink at em.
    Nate
